Monday, February 22, 2010 at 04:16PM Want to know more about the workshop this Saturday with Courtney & Mike? Read on:
Every Lindy Hopper wants the dance to be fun for both leader and follower, but do you ever wonder how it feels to be on the other side of your dance? A dance is really unforgettable when both people feel the music and move together seamlessly. Courtney and Mike are going to use simple exercises to help you feel the Lindy Hop and bring your dancing to another level... a level where the dance both feels and looks amazing. We’ll teach you about momentum, pulse, partnership, musicality, connection, and more! We’ll focus on the swing out, as the most basic, but challenging part of the dance, and then move on to some simple moves to help you feel that ooey-gooey Lindy connection.
This is an intermediate level class, so you should know your way around a dance floor. Specifically, know how to do a swingout. We won't be taking time to go over the basic mechanics.
"Feel the Rhythm, feel the Rhyme! Get on up, it's Lindy time!"
Saturday, Feb 27
5PM - 7PM

Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:59AM Hey Folks,
According to Weather.com; Charlottesville has a 30% chance of precipitation and is expected to have "few snow showers" between 6PM - 8PM. Right in the middle of lab!
We feel that this light dusting will not be too much of a problem for the majority of us who live in town or withing walking / public tranportation distance, so for now we are keeping the lab open tonight!
If the predicted weather conditions worsen and we feel that the lab will need to be closed, we will post an announcement no later than 5PM today.
Of course, please exericse caution when traveling in winter weather and use your best judgement if you decide to come out and dance tonight!
Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 10:11PM Hey Folks,
With more winter weather on the way we may have to make some changes to our weekly schedule. Never fear! SwingC'ville will do its best to stay open and if the roads are clear and we feel that it is safe, we will be open for business!
If we do need to stay home due to safety concerns, be sure that you are in the loop when it comes to SwingC'ville events. Here's how to keep track of us:
Stay safe, stay warm, and we'll see you on the dancefloor!
